Synopsis
This article will walk through the steps on how to provision Chrome OS. The first section covers how to create a boot drive. The second section will cover the enrollment via the device.
Please note that provisioning requires an account created by Bite. Please reach out to your Bite representative for an account if you're an authorized user.
Step 1: Creating the Boot Drive
Create ChromeOS Flex USB Install
- Plug in a USB flash drive (8 GB or larger) into the laptop you will create the boot drive on. If the USB drive is not empty you will be prompted to wipe the drive when the download begins.
- In Chrome, install the Chromebook Recovery Utility
- Under browser extensions click Chrome Recovery Utility to begin creating a ChromeOS boot drive
- Once the extension window open, click

Select a model from a list
- Using the
Select a manufacturerdropdown selectGoogle ChromeOS Flexand forSelect a productselectChromeOS Flex. ClickContinue.
- Using the dropdown select the USB drive that was selected in the first step. Click
Continue.
- Click
Create Now. The recovery image will be dowloaded onto the USB Drive, wait until the download completes. (When the download begins writing to disk you may be prompted to enter your computer password, enter the information and allow). Once the download is complete the window will close, eject the USB from your machine.

Step 2: Setting up the device
Boot Kiosk using the USB Installer
- If the kiosk was previously turned on, turn of the kiosk using the power button (refer to the kiosk documentation based on the model)
- Open up the back of the kiosk and insert the ChromeOS Flex USB into and open usb port (refer to kiosk specific guides)
- Turn on the kiosk, open turning on the kiosk will begin running ChromeOS Flex.

Provision Kiosk with Bite
- Now that the kiosk is running ChromeOS Flex, it needs to be provisioned with Bite in order to run our kiosk application. You will need to enter credentials in this step, for ease of use plug in a USB keyboard into the kiosk. (Note: Before registered under our organization the kiosk’s settings are default and the orientation will likely be landscape until provisioning is completed)
- Click

- Select
Enterprise Enrollmentfor who will be using this Chromebook. ClickNext - Enter provided credentials
- Select
Kiosk and Signage
- After sign in is complete click
Confirmto finish device enrollment.
- Enterprise level setting are now loaded on the device, and the orientation of the device should fix itself.
- A screen that says
Kiosk and signage device enrollment completewill appear. ClickDone
- Bite Kiosk App will be loaded and once the displayed serial number is added to Bite Admin. Click
Refresh Kioskto view the kiosk’s configuration screen.
