Create ChromeOS Flex USB Install
- Plug in a USB flash drive (8 GB or larger) into the laptop you will create the boot drive on. If the USB drive is not empty you will be prompted to wipe the drive when the download begins.
- In Chrome, install the Chromebook Recovery Utility
- Under browser extensions click Chrome Recovery Utility to begin creating a ChromeOS boot drive
- Once the extension window open, click

Select a model from a list
- Using the
Select a manufacturerdropdown selectGoogle ChromeOS Flexand forSelect a productselectChromeOS Flex. ClickContinue.
- Using the dropdown select the USB drive that was selected in the first step. Click
Continue.
- Click
Create Now. The recovery image will be dowloaded onto the USB Drive, wait until the download completes. (When the download begins writing to disk you may be prompted to enter your computer password, enter the information and allow). Once the download is complete the window will close, eject the USB from your machine.

Boot Kiosk using the USB Installer
- If the kiosk was previously turned on, turn off the kiosk using the power button (refer to the kiosk documentation based on the model)
- Open up the back of the kiosk and insert the ChromeOS Flex USB into and open usb port (refer to kiosk specific guides)
- Turn on the kiosk, on boot the kiosk will begin running ChromeOS Flex.

Provision Kiosk with Bite
- Now that the kiosk is running ChromeOS Flex, it needs to be provisioned with Bite in order to run our kiosk application. You will need to enter credentials in this step, for ease of use plug in a USB keyboard into the kiosk. (Note: Before registered under our organization the kiosk’s settings are default and the orientation will likely be landscape until provisioning is completed)
<aside> ⌨️ If you don’t have a keyboard during provisioning on the launch screen click Accessibility → Toggle On-screen keyboard to ON. Click OK. Once the device is managed by extbite.com this setting is auto-configured

<aside> 🖥️ Before you get started on the next steps you can rotate the screen do the device’s proper orientation by clicking CTRL + SHIFT + F3. You will be prompted to confirm you want to rotate the screen. Click Continue and continue using the key combination until you have the proper screen orientation. Once the device is managed by extbite.com the proper screen orientation is set by device. If you encounter a device where this is not true please file a JIRA ticket.

For work or schoolfor who will be using this Chromebook at the bottom. ClickNext.

Enroll the deviceon next screen. ClickNext.
- Enter provided
[extbite.com](<http://extbite.com>)email address for enterprise enrollment. (if we an account for a new vendor ask Andrew to provide new credentials, or to help with any password resets) ClickNext, then enter provided password. ClickEnroll kiosk or signage device. (If using a new account you will be prompted to update the password the the account)
- After sign in is complete click
Confirmto finish device enrolment.
- The base level of enterprise settings are now loaded onto the device
- A screen that says
Kiosk and signage device enrollment completewill appear. ClickDone
- Bite Kiosk App will be loaded. At this point we identify the device and apply device specific settings and trigger a reboot. After the reboot if the screen is not in the proper orientation please file a JIRA tickets as this device may need a different configuration. (build into Bite Admin)
- On the kiosk
Something went wrong. Failed to find a kiosk with serial number. Please contact your account representative for help.will appear with the device’s serial number. Give the displayed serial number to a member of our ops team to be added to Bite Admin. - Once added in our system, click
Refresh Kioskto view the kiosk’s configuration screen.
