- Plug in the scanner to the printer
- When scanner is powered up, scan the barcode below with the scanner.
- Open THIS FILE and scan the three barcodes, from top to bottom. You need to be careful to scan them correctly in order (if you can print them, it's easier). Upon scanning the last one, the scanner will play a jingling sound.
- To confirm that all of the above all worked, plug the scanner into a computer, open a text file (like Microsoft Word), and scan any barcode. The scanner will inject the text of the scanned barcode, and it should add a line break - i.e. the typing position should move to the next time. If the line break does not get added, then you'll have to go through the barcodes in THIS FILE again. This is important, because our system looks for that line break!
- Plug the scanner back into the TM88-VI printer. (One of the two horizontal ports next to the serial-looking port.)
- Start up the Bite Kiosk app on your iPad. On the config screen, in the "Select a receipt printer" popup, look for the printer, and ensure that it lists the Scanner peripheral.
-
Save that printer. There should be an "Enable barcode scanner" option underneath the printer mac address. Enable it:
- And finally, start the kiosk. Once the kiosk starts, you can confirm that everything works by double tapping the top, entering your passcode, and hit "View Dashboard"
-
You should see the scanner shown in the status on the left side. When you scan something, you should see the scanned value appear both in the status on the left and the logs on the right as below.
- Your scanner is set up and ready to scan!
