Overview
We understand that your kitchen & expo team has one shot to get Kiosk orders right. Leverage a compatible expo printer to ensure order fulfillment accuracy. This article will attempt to provide some guidance on how to configure your Expo Printer so that orders placed on the Bite Kiosk are printed for your staff.
Note: Please keep in mind that most of the printer's configuration must be performed in Epson's browser-based Web Config Utility. The precise UI/UX you encounter while attempting to access Epson's Web Config Utility site may differ, based on the specific printer model/submodel that you are using. This guide here will attempt to cover this as broadly as possible.
Compatible Epson Printers (you will need to source these independently of Bite):
TM-T88V-i (firmware 3.0+)
TM-88VI
TM M30 (select models)
TM-L90-i
TM-VII (Chinese character support)
Setup
1. Obtain Printer's IP Address
Make sure the printer is connected to the network, and turn it off and then on. It should print a chit with its IP address. This chit is also referred to as a 'network status sheet.' Some newer printer models will also print out a QR Code that you can scan to take you directly to the Web Config Utility.
2. Launch the Epson Printer Config Portal (Web Config Utility)
Important Note: In order to successfully access the Web Config Utility, you must do so from a device that is connected to the same LAN as the expo printer that you are setting up.
In a web browser, on a device that is on the same network as the printer, navigate to http://{{IP_ADDRESS}} or https://{{IP_ADDRESS}}/webconfig-i/. Replace {{IP_ADDRESS}} with your printer’s IP Address (Ex. https://10.88.111.38/webconfig-i) (See article HERE for TM88VII (Chinese support))
If you’re using Google Chrome, you may see a screen that warns that your connection is not private
You can get past this screen by typing the letters “thisisunsafe”, or click the Advanced button, then the "Proceed to X"
Next you may see a Sign in prompt. The username and password should both be “epson”. Press Sign in, and you’ll be in the portal.
- PLEASE NOTE: Newer versions of the Epson software will use the printer's Serial Number as the password. The Username remains "epson". You should be able to locate the printer's serial number on the device itself.
3. Configure “Server Direct Print”
Newer Epson Models: You will arrive first at the Web Config Utility's Home screen, where there will be several options. To get to "Server Direct Print," first click on Advanced Settings.
From within the Advanced Settings menu, click on the "Administrator Login" at the top-right side of the screen:
Input the password (should be the device's Serial Number by default)
Next, click on 'TM-i Settings'
Finally, once you are in the 'TM-i Settings' menu, you should be able to locate the "Server Direct Print" menu
Older Epson Models: On the menu on the left-hand side, click on the option entitled “Server Direct Print”
From within the "Server Direct Print" menu, configure the following settings, and then press Apply & Restart
