If your Elo touchscreen is not responding during service, a quick cleaning and restart often resolves the issue. This guide covers the most common causes of an unresponsive screen and what to do next if the problem continues.
Basic troubleshooting steps
Before you assume the touchscreen has failed, check for anything that may be blocking touch input and then restart the kiosk.
Clean the screen with a dry microfiber cloth and remove anything touching the display, such as tape, signage, moisture, or debris. Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate steps: cleaning removes dirt and debris, while disinfecting destroys bacteria. Do not spray the device directly. Use wet wipes or a non-abrasive cloth dampened with cleaning solution, and squeeze out any excess moisture before wiping. Do not get liquids inside the unit. Wipe all surfaces and allow them to dry. If possible, power down the kiosk before cleaning, or make sure your software can tolerate stray touches while you clean.
Restart the kiosk.
After the kiosk restarts, test several different areas of the screen to see whether touch input works across the full display.
