In UI/UX v2 ("Vitrine"), kiosks will display a "maintenance mode" screen when they are unable to take orders due to specific issues. This screen provides in-store staff with clear messaging on the root cause of the problem and guidance on resolving it.
Kiosks will enter maintenance mode for the following reasons:
- Store is closed (outside of open hours set in Day Parts on Bite Admin or POS-synced hours).
- Payment device is offline.
- KDS system is offline (for locations using a KDS integration).
- Magnetic stripe reader is offline (if applicable).
- No internet connectivity.
- Printer is disconnected or out of paper (this can be configured to allow kiosks to continue accepting orders without printed receipts).
- Scanner is disconnected.
Customization
Each error message can be customized using custom strings. Search for Maintenance... in custom strings to customize the message
A custom background image can also be supported. Please upload the desired image in the Closed Kiosk Cover Image - Android filed under Configurations v2 > Kiosk settings.

- APK 2.4.4
This ensures a smoother experience for both guests and staff, reducing downtime and providing clear troubleshooting steps when issues arise.
