Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Hardware (Kiosk)
Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate steps. Cleaning removes dirt and contaminants, while disinfecting destroys bacteria. Always refer to your cleaning product's instructions for dwell time.
To Prepare for Cleaning/Disinfecting:
- Power down the device (if possible), or ensure your on-screen software can tolerate false touches while you clean.
Cleaning Your Hardware:
- Avoid Liquids Inside: Do not get liquids inside the unit. Do not spray the Hardware directly.
- Application: Instead, use wet wipes or a non-abrasive cloth sprayed or dampened with the cleaning solution, with excess moisture squeezed out.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Avoid highly concentrated alcohol (> 70%), non-diluted bleach, or ammonia solutions, as these may cause discoloration.
- Wipe & Dry: Wipe all surfaces with appropriate wipes/cloths and approved cleaning products, then allow them to dry.
Disinfecting Your Hardware:
- Avoid Liquids Inside: Do not get liquids inside the unit. Do not spray the Hardware directly.
- Application: Instead, use wet wipes or a sprayed or dampened non-abrasive cloth with the excess moisture squeezed out.
- Approved Disinfectants: Choose a disinfectant solution that is safe for use with Hardware (refer to a list of approved disinfectants if available).
- Follow Manufacturer Instructions: Read and carefully follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions. Many require the surface to remain wet for a few minutes, which may necessitate continuous wiping.
