Although the message appears the same, the root cause and resolution are completely different. This article explains both scenarios and how Support should troubleshoot each one.
1. Store Closed – Bite Admin / Day Parts
When this trigger applies
This is triggered when the kiosk is outside of the store’s operating hours configured in:
Bite Admin → OPS → Kiosks → Turn On / Turn Off
Bite Admin → Menu Library → Day Parts
POS hours (if the client syncs hours from POS)
The kiosk will display closed even if the customer believes the site is open.
Symptoms
Store Closed message on kiosk UI
Kiosk won't enter ordering mode
Orders cannot be placed
Logs may show errors with the orders
Support sees no issues with OPS scheduling
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1 — Check OPS - Kiosk Hours
Navigate to:
OPS → Kiosks → Turn On / Turn Off
Confirm:
The kiosk turn-on time is correct
The kiosk is not set to turn off too early
The kiosk timezone is correct
Step 2 — Check Day Parts
Navigate to:
Menu Library → Day Parts
Confirm:
Menus hours match store schedule
No duplicate hours causing conflict
No missing hours for specific days
Step 3 — Confirm if Hours Sync from POS
Some brands sync hours from:
OlO
Toast
Simphony
Revel
Brink
If POS sends wrong hours → kiosk respects POS, not Bite.
Steps:
Ask client to confirm POS hours
Have client update POS
Run “POS Sync” in Bite Admin
Step 4 — Restart the Kiosk
If the kiosk had unstable internet, its internal clock may drift.
Restart to re-sync time + config.
2. Store Closed – OLO (Handoff Mode Closed)
(This is the MOST COMMON cause of “Store Closed” that is NOT Bite’s fault.)
This occurs when OLO closes only one handoff mode, such as:
Dine-In
Pickup
Dispatch (Third Party)
Drive-Thru
The kiosk uses OLO’s Dine-In handoff mode for Dining options. If that mode is closed → kiosk blocks that order path.
Symptoms
To-Go works (For example)
Dine-In does NOT work (Or viceversa)
Error appears at checkout
Payment does not start
OLO returns:
Please order from cashier as the kitchen is closing soon. (10112)
Or:
Pressed Cafe Bedford is either currently closed or your order cannot be prepared prior to close.
Please schedule your order for another time.
No order has been placed or billed.
(code: 200/218)
Or:
Maitre D' Event queue-job-failure (1102)
Or:
"Del Taco is either currently closed or your order cannot be prepared prior to close.
Please schedule your order for another time. No order has been placed or billed."
Troubleshooting Steps for OLO Store Closed
Step 1 — Identify OLO Error Code
Look for:
Maitre D' Event Event: queue-job-failure (1102)
Guest Error: Please order from the cashier as the kitchen is closing soon. (10112)
A kiosk at Del Taco 1314 – Reno displayed a “Kitchen is Closed” message only when placing Dine-In orders. To-Go orders were unaffected.
Error Details from OLO
Maitre D’ Event: queue-job-failure (1102)
Guest Error: Please order from the cashier as the kitchen is closing soon. (10112)
Code: 200/218
"Del Taco is either currently closed or your order cannot be prepared prior to close."
Root Cause
OLO had an override applied to the Dine-In handoff mode, which caused OLO to treat Dine-In as closed—even though the store was open.
This behavior matches known OLO logic:
When a holiday override is added to a handoff mode, OLO treats that override as the only set of hours unless regular hours exist for that mode.
Support Action Taken
Identified OLO in kiosk System logs.
Removed the Dine-In option temporarily so guests could order To-Go.
Restarted both kiosks and confirmed successful ordering.
Informed Del Taco Ops (Matthew Martinez and Perla Martinez) of the misconfigured Dine-In override.
After Ops removed the override, re-enabled Dine-In and confirmed the issue was resolved.
Outcome
✔ Dine-In hours corrected in OLO ✔ Dine-In re-enabled in kiosk ✔ Successful test order processed
